We are pleased to welcome participants to the WMU Maritime Affairs Conference 2026 (WMU MAC 2026), which will be held at our headquarters in Malmö, Sweden, from 26 to 28 August.
Guided by the theme Transforming Shipping in Practice: Decarbonization, Digitalization, and Arctic Navigation, WMU MAC 2026 will address the pressing need to move beyond vision and dialogue toward practical implementation in a rapidly changing maritime seascape. As the industry adapts to accelerating technological innovation, evolving regulatory frameworks, and the emerging realities of Arctic navigation, this Conference provides a timely forum for informed exchange and collaboration.
The Conference brings together experts from industry, academia, international organizations, and policy-making communities to share experience, research, and practical insights. Through open and forward-looking discussions, participants will examine how technology, regulation, and policy can work together to support safe, sustainable, and resilient shipping.
Cultivating a global network remains central to the World Maritime University’s capacity development and knowledge sharing mandates. Building on the outcomes of WMU Maritime Week 2024 and the WMU Maritime Affairs Conference 2025, this year’s Conference aims to further strengthen international cooperation and contribute meaningfully to the future of the maritime sector.
